Welcome to the Southern Cross Country League. Each event is approximately five miles.
Entry is free for members, and all you need to do is wear a club top.
Although sign-up is not required, it is strongly recommended, as is car sharing. All races have some form of parking charge (Approx £5)

“The emphasis of the league is to provide the ordinary club member with the opportunity to participate in a series of multi-terrain events. The atmosphere is to be enjoyable and social without the outright 'cut and thrust' associated with specialist cross-country leagues"

Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletic Club (BMHAC) invite you to Benyons Inclosure, a privately owned woodland plantation, seven miles north of Basingstoke. We are grateful to Englefield Estates for allowing access. The race is an 8.4km circuit of ancient woodland and heath. This is a trail race, so expect an uneven surface at times. Spikes are not recommended due to gravel sections. There is a chance of horse riders being present in the woods and any horse riders must be given priority. The race is licensed by England Athletics (EA), CC25/1630, and held under EA rules.
The 5-mile course follows a variety of undulating tracks, paths and trails around the around the Forest.

Alton Runners would like to welcome you all to the 4th round of the Southern Cross Country League, which will take place in Chawton House, Chawton, near Alton on 17th January 2027 at 11am.
The headquarters for the race is situated at the Barn, Chawton House, which is approx a mile south west of Alton off the A31. The address is Chawton House, Chawton, Alton, Hampshire, GU34 1SJ.
