Alton 10 Announces 2026 Race Details
Alton Runners and Alton Lions are delighted to announce the return of the popular Alton 10-Mile Race for 2026. This scenic, undulating 10-mile (16 km) event, a highlight of the Hampshire Road Race League (HRRL) calendar, is open to all runners and will take place on Sunday 10th May 2026 at 9:30am. The 2026 event will mark the 42nd year of the race.
The Alton 10 offers a rewarding challenge for runners, guiding participants through the picturesque countryside and village lanes of Hampshire, with stunning views of the surrounding hills, before finishing back at Race Headquarters. Last year, 449 runners took part.
"The Alton 10 is known for its beautiful, yet challenging course, and we look forward to welcoming runners from across the region for another fantastic day of racing," said Darren Mansfield, Race Director. "Whether you are a seasoned club runner or a local runner, this event is open to all who want to challenge themselves on a celebrated course."
Supporting the Community: Alton Lions and Local Causes
The Alton 10 is a major fundraising event that directly benefits the local community. The 2025 event successfully raised more than £4,000 for local charities and community groups. Funds were distributed to several organisations, including the Alton Lions Club, local Scouts and Boys' Brigade groups, and Cardiac Rehab Hampshire.
The Alton Lions Club, as well as co-organising the event, supplies a number of the crucial marshals and volunteers on the day, ensuring the safe and smooth running of the race. The Lions use their share of the funds to provide grants and support for local individuals in need, charities, schools, and community organisations. Their efforts focus on general charitable purposes, disability support, poverty relief, and promoting the social welfare of the community.
