Painting Hogmoor Inclosure parkrun Yellow
On a crisp Saturday morning, the usual scenery at Hogmoor Inclosure parkrun was transformed by a vibrant "Sea of Yellow." Alton Runners were out in full force for our latest parkrun takeover, providing every single volunteer for event #348.
From the setup crew to the tail walkers, the entire roster was staffed by our fantastic members (and some very welcome honorary members!). Trading our racing shoes for hi-vis vests, the club ensured the event ran like clockwork.
Kathryn, who took the helm as the morning’s Run Director, was thrilled with the turnout:
“The sea of yellow this morning was amazing! I honestly didn’t expect so many people to turn out in club colours—it was a fantastic sight.”
Before the start, Darren took to the microphone to welcome the field of runners, walkers, and joggers. He gave a spirited introduction to Alton Runners and made sure everyone knew about our upcoming flagship race, the Alton 10, which takes place on 10th May.
It wasn't just about volunteering; we were there to help people hit their goals, too. Our dedicated pacer team covered a wide range of finish times, guiding runners through the sandy trails of the Inclosure. The effort paid off - the PB Bell was ringing constantly at the finish line! Congratulations to the 58 runners who recorded a new Personal Best today.
We were delighted to witness several runners reach major milestones during our takeover:
- Hector Redfern-Crabtree – 10 Club
- Tom Morris – 25 Club
- Alex Hughes – 50 Club
- Fabian Birch – 100 Club!
To celebrate, the finish line was stocked with cakes and sweets, adding a festive vibe to the morning as everyone cheered the final finishers across the line.
The community spirit didn't end at the finish funnel. Many members migrated to the café for a well-earned coffee and a chance to chat about upcoming races and training sessions.
Events like this are a great reminder of why Alton Runners is such a special club to be part of. A huge thank you to the Hogmoor core team for having us, and to every member who gave up their Saturday run to volunteer!
